Mark Klins, PhD, PE is a management consultant specializing in the development of oil and gas resources and building the teams that coordinate those efforts. He received his PhD in Petroleum Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University and attended the Wharton Executive Development Program at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Klins served as a Professor of Petroleum & Natural Gas Engineering at Penn State and the University of Southern California. He later joined Chevron and worked for 25 years in various upstream operations, serving in an array of drilling, production, and reservoir engineering assignments and asset management positions in the Gulf Coast, West Texas, the San Joaquin Valley, South America, and the Middle East.
Dr. Klins has served as the SPE Pittsburgh Section Chairman and chaired the Educational & Professionalism, Distinguished Lecturer, Distinguished PE Faculty, and Outstanding Young Member Award Committees as well as served as a Technical Editor for the Journal of Petroleum Technology. In addition, Dr. Klins has authored or co-authored three textbooks (“Carbon Dioxide Flooding: Basic Mechanisms and Design”, “Heavy Crude Oil Recovery”, “Reservoir Rock and Fluid Properties”) and written over 25 refereed papers and articles.
For many years, Mark served as one of the instructors of the highly-rated in-person three day seminar PETROLEUM ENGINEERING FOR NON-ENGINEERS. We’re excited to bring him back as the instructor of this live, virtual format seminar!
