Venting or flaring natural gas to atmosphere has been a common but necessary occurrence in the past. One of these occurs after drilling anoil well that is producing a small amount of natural gas which is flared upon well completion. The other occurrences are when a section of pipe is being repaired, modified, or pigged which requires the gas pressure within the pipeline be totally released/vented to zero PSI. This presentation will discuss some of the options used to prevent or reduces these occurences and allow the operators to become in compliance with the EPA regulations.
