Cogeneration contains many inherent benefits, including improved project economics, state and local incentive packages, grid stability and site electric reliability, and reduced carbon footprint. Heartland Water Technology’s demonstrated success in treating produced water in a cogeneration application, yields an attractive turnkey solution from an economic and technical perspective.
Casey will pull from a case studies in which Heartland’s Concentrator has treated industrial waste water using waste heat from both turbines and reciprocating engines, utilizing waste heat to drive the water treatment process. Casey will discuss water flow rate requirements and the relationship to engine sizing. He will then discuss the improvement to heat rate and overall system efficiency which are possible with a combined CoVAP solution – cogeneration for industrial waste water evaporation.
