The Endangered Species Act recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. Since its inception, it has generated its fair share of controversy, both from politicians, environmental organizations, and industry. The purpose of this talk is to describe the ESA changes enacted in 2023 and the expected upcoming changes in 2024. We’ll explore how these changes impact energy development across the U.S. Specifically, what issues does each region expect and what permitting challenges await future energy projects.
